| A correct calculation based upon correct mathematical procedures, is correct in all of science. An incorrect calculation based upon incorrect mathematical procedures is incorrect in all of science. |

| It cannot be so that a calculation done for mathematical reasons, is correct for mathematicians but is not correct for physicists. This rule would help me very much. For I have done a calculation which is correct for mathematicians but is not correct for physicists. The calculation is the partial differentiation of a function f which is equal to g multiplied by h. (f=gh). The partial differentiation rule states (df/dt) = h (dg/dt) + g (dh/dt). This rule is now valid for mathematicians, but is not valid for physicists. If energy is force over distance (E = F ds) the result is (dE/dt) = F d(ds/dt) + (dF/dt) ds for mathematicians. Physicists have a different result. Their result is (dE/dt) = F d(ds/dt). The correctness of the mathematics has been acknowledged by mathematicians. The incorrectness of the mathematics has been stated by physicists. This situation cannot exist with the new rule. The math is either correct for both mathematicians and physicists or the math incorrect for both mathematicians and physicists. Stating ( (dF/dt) ds) is zero would be acceptable for mathematicians but is unacceptable for physicists. Stating the dF/dt is zero would implicate a non zero ness of dF/dt and that would introduce new verbal terms which would conflict which the old dogmatic. |
| The advancement of truth is served by the new rule as it gives non-tenured scientists the ability to enforce change and new reasoning which is otherwise obstructed by incorrect mathematical procedures by tenured professors. The American Association of University Professors (AAUP) would help me very much if the new rule becomes part of the '1940 Statement of Principles on Academic Freedom and Tenure'. |
